Glass mask, 'Blue Whirlwind'
A whirlwind of deep blue takes possession of a cool, crystalline face. Gabriel and Rodolfo Lio Jaramillo craft this beautiful mask of blown glass. The piece includes a hand-made display stand of wrought iron; a candle dish permits it to be illuminated from behind. Because each mask is an expression of the artisan's individuality and creativity, no two are exactly alike. No molds are used, thus the dimensions could vary as much as +/- 1.5 cm (0.6 in). Slight variations in shades and veins may be noticed, as well as bubbles trapped within the glass, all evidence of its uniqueness.
